A tight friction fit between the tube and base sometimes requires the use of monofilament line due to variations of the extruded
polycarbonate tube. With a sharp blade, trim the excess line.
Use care not to cut or scratch base.
DO NOT use glue. The glue solvent may react with the plastics and
cause crazing or discoloration.
Remove protective film
from the clear label holder and bend to ~120º. Apply (2) clear
feet as shown. Slide over post and press firmly to base. This will allow
sufficient friction to hold the aluminum specimen labels available from

Clean the magnet surface with
an alcohol pad then let dry to remove any traces of hand salts, which may
contribute to specimen rusting at magnet contact point.
Be aware these magnets
tend to “grab” at high iron specimens. Use care

Experiment with specimen position on magnets for best stability and appeal. Try removing the 3/8” dia. magnet for desired look, but be careful! These magnets are STRONG and will pinch fingers or possibly shatter if allowed to smack one another. |

Please note: All of the Meteorite display systems employ strong N40 nickel-plated magnets. Care must be used not to expose any magnetic based storage devices such as desktop or laptop computers, hard drives, floppy disks, cassette tapes, VHS tapes, or credit cards within a distance of 12" to the magnets. If you or someone in your household has a PACEMAKER or another electronic surgical implant, please ask your doctor about possible risks to strong magnet fields. Some collectors / scientists may take issue using strong magnets on fresh finds and I agree, however my personal opinion is that most specimens have already lost their magnetic scientific value long before we, the collectors, ever see them. With that said, please use your own discretion.
